Charlotte Mason Education

Charlotte Mason (1842-1923) was an educator whose work has inspired thousands to transform the lives and education of children through her philosophy and methods. Taking the child as a person with a mind (not as an empty bucket to fill), she taught that “Education is an atmosphere, a discipline, a life.” By this, Ms. Mason meant the atmosphere a child grows up in (home life), the habits a child learns (good or bad), and our academic life of living thoughts and ideas instead of dry textbooks.

This page is dedicated to the philosophy and methods Ms. Mason advocated and I will be adding my experiences as I learn, practice, and discover the difference a Charlotte Mason Education makes in our family. The Recommended Reading page is full of links to books, websites, blogs, and other things that have helped me on my CM journey. The Curriculum Page is different resources we’ve used in our various subjects. I hope that they may be of use to you!
